The basics
What LPUNEST is and who needs it
LPUNEST stands for Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test. LPU has run it since 2009, and LPU's official LPUNEST page says more than 75,000 students appear each year. It is one of the most important parts of the LPU admission process for many applicants.
LPUNEST is a common admission and scholarship route, but it is not the only option. Some admission processes consider qualifying examination scores, while others consider national-level exams such as JEE Main, NEET UG, CUET and CAT.
The scholarship you may be awarded depends on the programme, the process through which you qualify for admission, and the admission phase.
01
Eligibility test
For most programmes, LPUNEST acts as the eligibility test for admission.
02
Scholarship test
It can also determine your scholarship. A few programmes use it only for scholarship purposes.
The exact role of LPUNEST depends on the programme. Check your programme page before you register.
Who these updates cover
Which programmes these LPU admission updates cover
LPUNEST is used for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at LPU, so these updates apply to BTech, MBA and most other courses that list it as an admission or scholarship route.
UG & PG programmes
The main LPUNEST route for BTech, MBA and most courses that list it as an admission or scholarship route.
Law aspirants
Law applicants also sit LPUNEST. The law paper covers quantitative and logical aptitude, legal reasoning and English.
Lateral entry
The LPUNEST Lateral Entry Test is for candidates joining in a later year. LPU keeps a separate page, and the schedule may not match the main exam.
Stays the same across programmes
You choose the exam mode at slot booking, and your score decides your scholarship.
Differs by programme
Eligibility, syllabus and the fee group your course falls into. When an update applies only to one stream, it says so.

Ways in
Admission routes at LPU
LPUNEST is the main route in most LPU admission updates, but it isn't the only way in.
MOST USED
LPUNEST
Open to undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, and the route tied directly to LPU's scholarship categories.
Scholarship routeNational test scores
For B.Tech, LPU accepts JEE Main. Other programmes take tests such as CUET, CAT, GATE, NATA or CLAT. A score from one of these may be treated differently from LPUNEST for scholarships, so ask before you assume.
Ask about scholarshipQualifying exam marks
Admission based on your Class 12 or graduation marks, which generally comes with fewer scholarship options.
Fewer optionsEligible through more than one route? Sitting LPUNEST anyway can still make sense, since it gives you another chance at a higher scholarship. Rules differ by course and can change year to year, so check your programme page.
Step by step
How LPU admission works
The exact screens change from year to year, but the order stays fairly steady. Knowing where you are tells you which updates matter to you right now.
1
Register
Sign up on LPU's admission portal with your name, email address and phone number.
2
Fill the form
Complete the application for your programme and choose your admission mode. For most students, that is LPUNEST.
3
Pay & apply coupon
Pay the registration fee if your form asks for one. Enter LPUJVQ308 at the payment step.
4
Book a slot
Pick either the home-proctored exam or a test centre.
5
Take the test
Results are reported to arrive within 24 hours of the exam, though your own result email is the thing to trust.
6
Get your scholarship
Your category comes from your score. Then complete admission formalities and fee payment.
Complete the fee payment and slot booking steps early, particularly when preferred exam dates or centres have limited availability.
Choose your mode
Home or test centre?
LPUNEST is conducted in two ways. LPU recommends the home option where you have the resources for it.
LPU recommends
Home-proctored online exam
Taken from home, remotely proctored. Your setup is what matters.
- A working computer, a camera and steady internet are the basics
- No travel, and more flexibility on timing
- LPU publishes exact system requirements and login steps in its exam guide; read it a few days before your slot
Alternative
Test centre exam
Makes sense if your connection is unreliable or you can't arrange a quiet room.
- Removes the risk of a dropped connection mid-paper
- No home setup needed
- You travel and keep to the centre's timing
Whatever you choose, LPU's own pages warn that slots fill up quickly. Book early, and watch for exam-mode notices in these updates.
Scholarships
What your LPUNEST score changes
Your scholarship is tied to your result. LPU says it offers scholarships based on LPUNEST scores, and third-party guides describe the amount as depending on your score category and the fee group of your programme.
ACategory
BCategory
CCategory
DCategory
Score categories as described by third-party guides. Use LPU's official scholarship page for the actual figures.
Score sets your category
Your category, combined with your programme's fee group, decides the scholarship amount.
Timing matters
Guides report that the scholarship percentage drops across successive admission phases, one more reason to apply in an early phase if you can.
You can try again
LPU says candidates who want to improve their scholarship can appear again as per the schedule it communicates. One bad day doesn't have to fix your outcome.
The scholarship structure changes. Numbers quoted on blogs, including this one, can be out of date, so use the figures on LPU's official scholarship page as the final word.
After the result
What happens after the LPUNEST result
LPU admits students phase by phase, so the steps after your result tend to move quickly.
Windows are time-bound. Reports from past phases suggest that missing a deadline can cost you both the seat and the scholarship. Watch your registered email.
- 1
Check your result
Log in to see your score, rank and scholarship category.
- 2
Choose your programme
Some programmes add an interview or a counselling step before an offer is final.
- 3
Accept the offer
Pay the initial fee within the stated window.
- 4
Verify your documents
Upload what the portal asks for.
- 5
Finish enrollment
Complete the remaining formalities once your seat is confirmed.
Beyond the scholarship
Choosing LPU: what to compare
A scholarship matters, but it shouldn't be the only factor. Compare what you would at any university.
Approvals
Whether your specialisation carries the approval you expect. Portals list AICTE for engineering, PCI for pharmacy and BCI for law.
Placements
Placement outcomes for your specific programme, not the campus-wide average.
Distance & hostel
Distance from home, and what hostel living costs.
Total fee
The total fee across the full programme, not only the first year.

Things to keep ready
Have these on hand before the next round of updates arrives, so you aren't hunting for them mid-form. Tap each item to tick it off.
Eligibility differs by programme. A BTech applicant and an MBA applicant will not see the same requirements, so read the criteria for your specific course.
- Class 10 and Class 12 marks, or your expected results if you haven't finished yet
- The programme you want, and a second choice in case your first has stricter eligibility
- A working email address and phone number for login details and slot confirmations
- A recent photograph and a scanned ID, in case the portal asks for uploads
- A laptop or desktop with a webcam, if you're leaning towards the home exam
- Coupon code LPUJVQ308 copied and ready for the payment step

Mistakes that cost students time
Reading last year's updates
The most common mistake. Old pages stay online, and search results and AI answers sometimes surface them. Check the year on any page you rely on, including this one.
Coupon from the wrong year
A code that worked for the 2026 session may not work now. Our coupon page states which session its code belongs to.
Skipping the eligibility check
LPUNEST is mandatory for most programmes, but not for all. Confirm the rule for yours.
Booking a slot at the end
With limited slots, waiting usually means an inconvenient date or a centre far from home.
Trusting third-party fee numbers
Some portals list application kit fees. They can change when registration opens, so read the amount on the official form.
Do this instead
Use dated 2027 information, confirm on lpu.in, book early and keep LPUJVQ308 ready.
